Things to do on Singer Island
Singer Island is an area that is inclusive towards the interests of residents and visitors alike. Singer Island is one of the most important beaches for nesting sea turtle populations that visit each year.
There is a thriving fishing community with the Grand Slam tournament taking place annually. Participants can experience true South Florida fishing by snagging fresh dolphin, wahoo, and sailfish to name a few. There are many opportunities to snorkel and scuba dive to view aquatic life up close and personal. John D. MacArthur State Park is located at the north end of the barrier island. This beautiful preserve is home to a plethora of wildlife including native bird, fish and turtle populations.
What makes this park unique according to macarthurbeach.org, is its “preservation of the natural heritage of subtropical coastal habitat that once covered southeast Florida.” The park provides its guests with breathtaking views of the beach, an estuary, nature trails, Munyon Island, kayak rentals and plenty of picnic pavilions.
Volunteer opportunities are available with the Conservation League of Singer Island which works year-round to protect our local turtle populations by recording their nests, evaluating nest sites and performing relocations as needed.
